Day 17
I wonder what they’re saying about me back home. I don’t think anyone was expecting another tribute from 11 to win. Sarah winning last year was a complete surprise. But the facts are irrefutable; I’m the strongest male left in the Games. My only real competition is Victoria from 10, and possibly Kelly from 2 if she managed to get healed from her poison. Everyone else doesn’t really pose a threat to me; I’m strong enough to fend off any poisoned tributes that try to attack me, and I’ve got enough food and water to last me another week.
But I’m going to have to fight at least one more time before the Games end. I can only hope that it isn’t Victoria.
The two times I encountered Victoria, she had every opportunity to kill me. She and her mannequin destroyed my own mannequin, but she let me run away weaponless. And then during the feast, I managed to cut her on her arm before she actually attacked me for the first time, slashing my cheek and shoulder open. But then she just stood there, she let me get away. I don’t know why.
And it scares me.
I don’t have much longer.
My wounds won’t close any more. I’m still losing blood (Training Point Lost).
All I can do is keep taking medicine, keep changing my bandages as they get soaked with blood.
Try not to cry.
Try to be brave.
“What’s left?”
I moan to myself as I continue to dry heave and vomit. I haven’t eaten in three days; what else could there possibly be to throw up?
I get back on my feet keep walking. I’ve been walking for a few hours. Not sure why. Not sure why I do anything that I do anymore.
Someone’s moaning up ahead.
I don’t know how many tributes are left. I stopped paying attention when…
Something happened a few days ago, but I don’t remember what. Just that it was very sad. I still cry about it. Maybe I’ll remember if I find…
A tribute is moaning around the corner.
I’m thirsty. I think I’m thirsty, anyways. Not enough to drink from the stale, dirty pools of water in the hallways. But maybe tomorrow…
The boy from 4 is moaning on the floor in the hallway.
Purple veins. He’s sick too.
I reach down and take the knife out of his hand. He doesn’t resist at all.
I start stabbing. Crying. Stabbing. A cannon fires. Stabbing. Sobbing.
Screaming.
